May 1st 2007

All competitors are currently travelling to China from their respective countries.
Reports we are receiving say they are mostly very tired from the travelling but excited to get started.

"Arrived in Shanghai this afternoon. A different place all right. Caos on the roads, pedXing on the road means nothing! Plenty of great deals unfortunately our bags are already maxed out. Quite warm here but still showing -6 overnight temps at Mongolia."

We await news from Kevin's sateillite phone once he is arrived and set up.

May 2nd 2007

Received communication from Kevin Myers in Beijing, on the way to Mongolia.
"Arrived in Beijing, luggage still in London!!! Hopefully be in Mongolia tomorrow"

May 4th 2007

A call from Kevin 5.15pm in Mongolia. Sat in a Bar with Santiago. Luggage still not arrived, , its 15 hours away.  Has parts of his Blokart but no wheels or clothes etc.  Waiting for flights from Air China, one was cancelled because of a sandstorm, another coming in tonight so fingers crossed it will have the luggage, if it does they have a fast car to get them to the start line (at least I think that’s what he said)

If the the luggage doesn’t com tonight then he will go back to the hotel and may go horse riding tomorrow! Occupying his time shopping! .

UPDATE 12.00 TODAY

Luggage has now arrived and Kevin and Santiago are finally on there way in a 4x4 high speed vehicle!
They are at least 8 hours away from the rest of the team, could be up to 15 depending on how far the others have travelled.

May 8th 2007 5.30pm Mongolia

Message received from Kevin Myers afer being reunited with his luggage:

"Moving from area to area. The terrain is difficult in places, but its really good fun, especially making decisions about hills! Enjoying the sun as there is very little wind today, compared to yesterday (Monday 7 May) when I got to the front and stayed there for most of the day. We stayed with a nomad family last night, although I slept in my tent as there were camels and camel poo everywhere. The hospitality and generosity of the hosts is amazing."

We're awaiting contact from Kevin - Hopefully they're all ok

May 11th 2007

Still no word from them. We're all wondering if we should start worrying soon. If anyone has received contact from someone in the race please let us know. Click here to mail us

On another note, Kevin and the race plans were broadcast on West Country Television yesterday and news of the race appeared in the Western Morning Newspaper (all based in Cornwall, UK)

We're keeping our fingers crossed and hope to hear from them all soon.

May 14th 2007

Feedback finally received from the group. Kevin is back in the UK and sent this message:
"All of the dirty dozen home safe and sound.
We covered total of about 1000 km inc truck rides.
Received a great response from local people - with tv interviews and pictures of us all in the central square of ulaan bataar on our first day regular groups of locals especially children around us - pushing us off etc at every town visited.
The Winner ? the Gobi of course."
